 Living Wage is gaining attention!
The Standing Policy Committee for Finance and Corporate Services narrowly approved the Living Wage component of the SEEPP policy by a margin of 5-4, meaning that it will go to city council for cautious consideration. You may have noticed that the issue of Living Wage has popped up on TV, radio and the newspapers recently as well. Contribute your thoughts by writing a letter to your Alderman. Sharepower - holding corporations accountable for human rights
The Sharepower project is a project of Amnesty International's Business and Human Rights campaign. Its aim is to advance corporate responsibility for human rights by harnessing the powerful connection between individuals and companies. The are focusing on the Power Corporation (through its link with French TOTAL and work in Myanmar/Burma), the Canada Pension Plan (and their responsible investing practices) and Weyerhauser (due to logging in Grassy Narrows Reserve in Ontario) in their letter writing actions. Linking the financial crisis, climate change and prostitution
CSRwire is a great source of reports about the social responsibility world, and this article talks about how the recent financial crisis and climate change seem interrelated, as well as pitching a suggestion that the Eliot Spitzer scandal was deeper than his involvement with prostitution.
